Question 7-Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in progression from it to the full product?

Question 6-What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Technologies which I have learnt from the process when creating my product
The two main technologies which I learnt about when creating my product and the full proccess was Premiere Pro and Adobe photoshop, using a key skill which was relevant when creating my product due to the genre which was creating a rough/broken effect.
Premiere Pro
When producing a video for my evaluation I had to use a new technology which I had not used before. This being Premiere Pro.

When using Premiere Pro I had to upload the file from a video camera which I had used, delete the audio from the film clip and ‘Nest’ 3 different film clips together so that I had a full film clip that would be playable on youtube.

I had to then convert the sequence to a MPG2 so that it was playable and fully functional to be displyed.
Photoshop Skill
Below is the video which I created through using Premiere Pro, displaying the key skill of creating the rough/broken effect onto a block square:

Question 5-How did you attract/address your adience?

A attracted/ addressed my audience through analysing the genre and applying this when producing it such as taking photos of people wearing skinny jeans and people who have long hair. Using the correct mode of a dress and choice of language to fit my audience.

Below is a PowerPoint presentation which I created displaying theories which I have incorporated in my work to make sure that I attract/address my audience accordingly:

Question 4-Who would be the audience for your media product?

Question 3-What kind of media insitution might distribute your media product and why?

Another institue that it is posible to have my magazine distrubuted from is WHSmith as they have a complete search bar where you can choose magazines from. Such magazines as kerrang which is a magazine from the same genre as mine (rock/metal) are distrubuted this way.

Below is a weblink displaying the WHSmith website showing the search bar for a magzine:

Question 2- How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Below is three annotated images displaying how my media product represents/targets particular social groups, this being those who follow the rock/metal genre as this was the target audience for my media product:

Question 1-In what does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Below is a link to a prezi powerpoint which displays how my media product follows forms and conventions of a magazine within the metal/rock genre:

Developmental Drafts

These are my developmental drafts that I have had analysed and reviewed by peers and other people. It is clear to see the downfalls as they have been annotated to what I need to change.

I also got 3 peers to review my work and leave comments on one advantage and disadvantage they felt my product presented.

Harry stone:

Advantage: The broken affect used is very attractive and iconic to the genre and this is what I feel is the key feature and most appealing feature of the front cover.

Disadvantage: I believe that the images used on the left side of the page could have more action/variety as I feel this would address/attract the audience even further.

Eden Tanner

Advantage: I think the layout of the page is very affective as it gives the opportunity to display many images which is iconic to the genre and also enough space to add the lures.

Disadvantage: The font size used for the numbers within the lures are different sizes which makes the contents page look unprofessional and may put the reader of the magazine off.

Nick Craig:

Advantage: I think the layout of the article is very effective and appealing, along with the broken effect used on the masthead.

Disadvantage: I think the black lines between the articles should be taken out as this makes the page looked locked in and not free which would represent the genre further.

Original Photography

This is the all of the original photgraphy that I had taken previously. From this I will choose the final photgraphy which will be included within the production process and maybe the final product.

Chosen Photography

I choose this photo due to the location of the metal bars and dirty look with the bags and machinery in the back.

I chose this image as it displays action and also fits my genre as it is a person playing drums which is present throughout the music within my genre. It also fits the double page spread which I wished to write which was about a drummer within a band.

I chose this image as it displays action and also fits my genre as it is a person screaming which is a form of singing throughout the genre, which is present throughout the music within my genre. It also fits the double page spread which I wished to write which was about a drummer within a band.

I chose this image as it displays action and also fits my genre as it is a person playing a guitar which is present throughout the music within my genre. It also fits the double page spread which I wished to write which was about a drummer within a band.

I chose this photo due to gaze theory as he would be attractive to the target audience of the metal/rock genre and also by the use of genre theory which is sticking to key elements of genre so that it is no rejected by the audience, which I have done by using someone with long hair and a ear stretcher.

I chose this photo due to gaze theory as he would be attractive to the target audience of the metal/rock genre and also by the use of genre theory which is sticking to key elements of genre so that it is no rejected by the audience, which I have done by using someone with long hair.

I choose this photo due to the location, the fact it has a iconic attribute of the rock/metal genre within it (the guitar) and also the characters within the image suit the genre which I was creating my magazine for.

I choose this photo as it fitted the 'editor' section that I needed as he was dressed smartly within the image.

Designs - Chosen Designs

These are my chosen designs for my cover page, contents page and double page spread. I have chosen these designs as I feel that they are the most effective, as they resemble to metal/rock genre the best. The designs meet the codes and conventions followed by existing metal/rock magazines. Now that I have chosen my designs, I will start the photography stage. I will take lots of shots so that I have several to choose from.

Chosen Content Design

The reasons behind me choosing this as my final design for a contents page are; I believe that it represents the genre more than the other two designs. I think the layout is suitable as it gives the oppurtinity for many images to be displayed but also a big enough space for the copy to be placed within, without being to difficult to read. I will make the design appeal to my target audience through mode of address, by using language that is seen through other magazines in the same genre (rock and metal). I will also make it appeal through the use of a colour scheme that is attractive.

Chosen Double Page Spread Design

I have chosen this to be my final design as I feel it produces a product which engages the audience through the use of the key image which is staring the audience in the eye. Also through the layout as it does not make the information look as though it is all crammed together, making it easier to read and take in. The way in which I will address the audience through mode of adress will be one that is suited to the genre and there for will make the audience more interrested when reading.
Chosen Cover Page Design
The reasons behind me choosing this as my final design for a cover page is it applies gaze theory for my chosen genre. It follows conventions set by the genre. This includes one main image along side seperate images as this is what attracts the target audience of this genre. I have chosen a font that is representative of the genre but I wish to use a more bolder styled font when creating my developmental drafts as this will stand out even more to the audience.

Designs - Contents Page

These are my designs for the contents page that I will be producing. The cover page is for the genre 'Rock/Metal'. I have used my research of existing cover pages to improve and navigate my designs. I have taken what I feel are the good points from my research and tried to apply them within my designs and also avoid the bad. I have also used my research to target my chosen audience and genre.

Music Magazine-Analysis of Magazine-Contents Page-Genre Research

Below are my three anlaysis of contents page for genre research:

Analysis 1

Analysis 2

Analysis 3
Through analysing these three components. I have learnt a lot about iconic attributes and conventions for magazines of the rock/metal genre. Some of these key features that I have learnt and will apply when creating my product are things such as; The broken effect used which resembles some of the songs within the genre, the use of many images which entices the audience of the magazine, a black and white colour scheme for the bass of it with bright colours coming through as this represents the music as quite dark and depressing but with a lively outset, have the person within images stare straight at the camera which draws the audience in and the use of big bold mastheads with the copy in capitals.
